I live with my husband and have 3 children: Sam(1995) Benjamin(1998) and Isabella(2001) and a very well loved dog. I love being a mother, and watching them grow into independent young people is the most rewarding job ever.

In 2005 I had the great privilege to be a birthing partner for a very close friend. It was one of the most incredibly moving experiences ever. I loved ever minute of the birthing process and knew that somehow I wanted to work supporting women. Being a doula has enriched my life in so many ways. To be able to offer practical and emotional support to parents at such a special time is an absolute honour and one that I never take for granted.

I was very fortunate to have had 3 natural births (varying from 24hrs+ to 6 hours). I found labour and birthing my children incredibly empowering. I feel passionately that women (and men) should have positive memories of the births of their children whether it be a natural, assisted or c-section birth. I believe that there is no “right’ or “wrong’ way to give birth – just your way. By supporting women and their partners, I help ensure that you have all the information you need to make informed decisions. This is so empowering when you reflect back on your birth stories in the days, months and years to come. A positive birth story, whatever the journey, is a wonderful gift to give your child.

In addition to being a doula I also practice as a homeopath. Homeopathy is a safe, gentle and effective system of medicine that can be used to treat many conditions. Homeopathy works wonderfully in pregnancy, during labour and postnatal period.

I have been very fortunate to have supported parents in a variety of birth situations including home births; waterbirths; successful VBACs; c-section following failure to dilate; planned c-section; epidural and forceps delivery; natural hospital deliveries; successful induction due to pregnancy complications. I have worked in extensively in my 2 local hospitals West Middlesex and Kingston, as well as Queen Charlottes, Chelsea & Westminster, St Georges, and St Peters hospitals. I have supported births under Private consultants both at NHS hospital and at the Portland and have worked alongside Independent Midwives.

My Post natal work as a doula has been wonderfully varied. Some families have been very short term and others I have been with for over a year. As well as supporting many first time mums and those with older children, my experience includes supporting families with premature twins and triplets; refulx babies on medication and mums with post natal depression. I also work as a night doula.

I am passionate about improving maternity care. I am an active member of the West Middlesex Hospital’s Maternity Services Liaison Comittee (MSLC) and also attend local Positive Birth Group meetings.
