Anyone that knows me well, knows that I ADORE expectant and brand new mummies. If you fall into either of these categories (and congratulations if you do!), then please read on to learn a little about me and how I can support you through this amazing time in your life.
My fascination and thirst for knowledge of all things pregnancy and birth related has been with me for a lifetime, and I could not be more delighted to be working within this wonderful profession. The tipping point came after the births of my own two children, which I found to be the most empowering and affirming experiences of my life to date. I am often saddened by tales of traumatic or negative birth experiences and as a doula, I am committed to enabling women to look back on their births with a smile and with life long memories of joy, elation and control, however and wherever they give birth.
As your birth doula, I work with you antenatally to prepare you for birth and provide you with the information you need to make informed choices about your care and your birth preferences. During your labour I am a constant support for you and your partner in whatever way you need, and I will be there until your baby is born, settled in your arms and happily feeding. As your postnatal doula, I support you at home with your newborn(s), helping you to enjoy those precious early weeks of parenthood. It’s a profession as old as the hills, but in the whirlwind of 21st century living where we are whipped back into ‘normal life’ and our size eights, My role is to give you the support and the time that you need to fall in love with your baby and take to your bed, where you can concentrate on your bond, your attachment and your physical and emotional wellbeing.
I have supported births in various settings (at home, in water, in hospital, in theatre), and postnatally I have experience with twins, triplets and singletons! I have met some amazing women (and their partners) during my time as a doula, with whom I have formed strong bonds and life long relationships, and I can happily put you in touch with them should you feel that you need more information about me personally, or the difference a doula can make.
I live in with my husband and our two slightly bonkers children and I can whip up a mean lemon drizzle at a moments notice. So, do please get in touch if you feel I can help in an way.
